Bad news for all the iPhone 3G owners who were looking forward to Game Center, Apple’s social and gaming networking application, which is included with iOS 4.1. Apple has confirmed that Game Center will work on the second-generation iPod touch, but not on the iPhone 3G.

Facebook has reportedly pulled the plug on using the ‘Facebook Connect’ on iTunes Ping by turning off Apple’s access to its Facebook Connect API, as an agreement between Apple and Facebook couldn’t be reached, prompting Facebook to cut off access. Apple subsequently removed the feature from its service.
