Facebook has joined the hashtag fray,  which was a staple of Twitter, Tumblr, Pintrerest  as well as Facebook’s Instagram, it  introduced the hashtag feature on Wednesday that allows users to add the # symbol before a word to signify its topic. The topic would then be easily searchable by other users on Facebook.

Hashtag feature will roll out over the next few weeks. Facebook says the new feature is the first step toward helping users discover what other people are saying about topics and join in a public conversation.
