Intel Powererd Ultrathin Windows 8 Laptops Could Sell For As Less As US $200 Says Intel’s CEO

Intel Powererd Ultrathin Windows 8 Laptops Could Sell For As Less As US $200 Says Intel's CEO Prices for Windows 8 powered touch screen devices, including laptops, are set to plunge according to Intel CEO Paul Otellini. Mobile devices based on Intel  running Windows 8 currently are at least 60% expensive than Android powered hardware in the same segment.

“If you look at touch-enabled Intel-based notebooks that are ultrathin using [Bay Trail] processors. Those prices are going to be down to as low as $200,” said Intel CEO Paul Otellini during the company’s first-quarter earnings conference call this week.

Bay Trail will utilize a quad-core architecture, which should provide more processing power than today’s dual-core Atom configurations. In terms of performance, Bay Trail will move the budget-conscious Atom platform closer to Intel’s premium Core series processors.
