Smart Phone Industry poised to grow with iPhone 4 leading the pack

Research firm  ChangeWave’s recent smart phone survey of 4,028 U.S. consumers shows an explosive transformation occurring in consumer demand and  throws up a number of illuminating statistics. The major point is that people are keen on buying smartphones like never before, with 16% of respondents saying that they’ll be taking the plunge within the next 90 days, which marks the biggest increase in the survey’s history.

Apple and HTC seem to be the biggest beneficiaries of this interest, with both improving their share by over 50 percent between March and June of this year, at the expense of RIM and Motorola.  Apple’s  iPhone 4 and HTC’s  Droid Incredible and EVO models popularity is driving growth for their respective companies.

iPhone 4 may be facing major backlash for its ‘Antennagate’ ,  inspite of that  Apple iPhone 4 is driving much of the industry’s growth going forward, with more than one-in-two (52%) respondents who plan to buy a smart phone in the next 90 days saying they’ll get an Apple iPhone.
