Blackberry tablet rumors gain currency

Apple iPad’s success had reinvented and redifined Tablet PC market and it was a matter of time before its competitors launched tablet devices, Blackberry maker and market leader in smart phones Research In Motion was rumored for quite some time now to be on its way to bring a BlackBerry tablet to the market, the speculation got strengthened  following fresh reports on Internet primarily a research note from Ashok Kumar, an analyst and managing director at Rodman & Renshaw, who claims RIM’s new tablet will come with a smaller 7-inch screen, in contrast to the iPad’s 9.7-inch diagonal display.

“Research In Motion  is trying to pull forward the launch of the 7-inch touchscreen tablet from early next year to year end…with a marginal point of differentiation being the front- and back-facing cameras for videoconferencing,” Ashok Kumar said in his research note.

Apparently, there are not many details on the tablet yet but it’s expected to have a large touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel camera, 4GB of internal memory, Wi-Fi, 3G support via a BlackBerry smartphone and BlackBerry OS 6.0 running under the hood.

As Apple goes, so does the rest of the IT world. Ok maybe that is a bit exaggerated, but to the average consumer it seems as if these companies are just following in the wake of the ipad and pretty much any other Apple mobile device.

But I'm interest to see where blackberry takes this and if they will have any success.
