Android is growing fast, we knew that, but, this fast – Android Market is now home to more than 100,000 apps and has surpassed 1 Billion downloads. Simply superb.

Google has not officially confirmed this but AndroLib has revealed that the Android Market is now stores  more than 100,000 apps.They also claim that more than 1 billion apps have been downloaded from the store. It’s not clear if this number includes app updates or not, the number is massive either way and it is more likely to include the regular updates that are released for the apps.

AndroLib’s report also reports that over 14,000 applications became available during the month of June, and over 10,000 have appeared already in July. What’s noteworthy  is that it took Android Market just three months to double their offerings from 50,000 apps to 100,000 apps. At this rate, Android Market could soon surpass Apple App Store which dominates the mobile app store segment.
