As per a report from Wall Street Journal, Google is all set to resume talks with Chinese government officials to get more clarity on the future of its business in China. The earlier round of talks had ended on a rather ugly note with Google threatening to shut shop and close all its operations in China.

All along, Google has strongly objected to censoring of its search results in China. However, after the Chinese government softened its stance by assuring a crackdown on hackers which may be the masterminds of recent cyber attacks, Google has reciprocated the gesture by expressing its willingness to talk to settle the issue, once and for all.

As always, Google has refused to comment on the matter. Google will be represented in China by Ross LaJeunesse, the former advisor to California Governor – Arnold Schwarzenegger. Google realizes that China is a critical market for it to succeed in South East Asia and I’d hardly be surprised if Google does adhere to ‘filtered search results’ on mutually acceptable terms.

I hope, the Google China talks lead to a conclusion rather than ending up as another ‘war of words’ like what happened the last time!
