What’s next after Tweetie 2?

tweetieWe all remember Tweetie 2 don’t we? A great iPhone Twitter client developed by Atebits and launched in the App store. As most people agree, it is the best Twitter client on the market today. However, one has to wonder what’s next? Well, first of all, there are a few bug fixes that really need to come out. However, nothing major, because Tweetie 2 is a 1.0 release and, like all these releases, comes with a few minor bugs.

The major follow-up is what the guys at Atebits want to include into the next release of Tweetie (probably Tweetie 3). First of all, these will be new-style retweets. Per-tweet geotagging will follow, and Lists are the last addition. These improvements need their respective APIs in place. No problem for Atebits! All of them are currently in testing, so the hard work has been completed.

There will be a new version of Tweetie for Mac client. Don’t worry, this version will sync with Tweetie 2. Although we don’t have many details about Tweetie 2’s post-launch, we have this: “#1 Top Grossing app in less than 24 hours, and currently #2 Top Paid overall. Pretty frickin’ insane,” from Loren Brichter, its developer. Let’s hope Tweetie 3 will be the same!
