Wow Twitter has just gone down for routine maintenance, it’s 20:25 BST, and I’m missing it already! They say the will be back in an hour so contented with that in mind, I have decided to think about 2 newsworthy things that I can say about Twitter.

1. Twitter is now as mainstream as it gets. Even the DJ on Kiss FM has a feed, (I know this, as this is what the gym I attend like to play).

What does this mean for the ordinary tech folk like us?
Answer: We have to fight to keep our feed free from the masses, no more auto follows, no more I’ll add them just because they are famous and no more need to keep on telling people why twitter is so bloody good.

2. Twitter still makes no money! I mean seriously, what are these people running on. This is like the ultimate free to use, non ad supported application. These guys won’t even accept business model ideas, and by golly there is enough ideas hitting the shelves in internet land.

What does this mean for the ordinary tech folk like us?
Difficult to say, but something is brewing, because you can’t give this much love forever without something in return. I put money on them beavering away in the background to keep on delivering an amazing product, and then to become the next facebook and google dot com wonders. It does however mean that techies, beware! We might all be trying to jump on the bandwagon and see how we can capitalise on the twitterconomy!.
