We all know Tinychat. It started like a very simple IRC-style chatroom app and it complemented conversations on Twitter. However, Tinychat is growing fast! It is now a powerful browser-based communications platform. This platform is rivaling some very large tools built by corporations or venture-backed start-ups. A very good result, I might add! As things and trends [...]

We all remember Tweetie 2 don’t we? A great iPhone Twitter client developed by Atebits and launched in the App store. As most people agree, it is the best Twitter client on the market today. However, one has to wonder what’s next? Well, first of all, there are a few bug fixes that really need to come out. However, nothing major, because Tweetie 2 is a 1.0 release and, like all these releases, comes [...]

Anyone who uses a Twitter application on the iPhone has no doubt been “my app’s better than yours” debate at some point. I know I’ve been there a few times. There’s a whole bunch of them out there, and to be perfectly honest they all do pretty much the same thing, just in slightly different ways.

We all know Twitter and we are all huge fans of this social media microblogging website. However, few of us are aware of its rise in profits and value. The three-and-a-half-year-old company is expecting to close a deal for $100 million in financing. Wow, this is a lot of money! And they deserve it! Themes that will be discussed are twitter as a platform and as a language we speak. “Over time it will neither be the only platform nor the only language. #140conf is not an event about microblogging or the place where people share twitter “tips and techniques” but rather where we explore the effects [...]

This might sound unbelievable, but it is absolutely true! PepsiCo, the owner of Mountain Dew soda brand has rented a bowling alley in Brooklyn to throw a “taste test” party. They were testing the brand new “Ultraviolet” diet soda. Most of the guests were Twitter users and fans. On a projector screen, everybody could watch Twitter search queries related to @mtn_dew and occurrences of the hashtag [...]

A couple of weeks ago, the largest 3G wireless operator in USA, Verizon, announced the launch of a new app store: the Widget Bazaar. This storefront is aimed at providing new widgets and applications for its Fios TV clients. Some of Verizon’s partners will develop the apps for now. “From the beginning we said we wanted Fios to be a platform for innovation,” – Shaygan Kheradpir, Verizon [...]

Justin.tv revealed today that they’ll be inviting people to a Private Beta of CamTweet, but they may be too late. Moments ago TwitCam was launched, which covers all the same functionality promised by CamTweet.
After seeing a demo version of CamTweet running at TechCrunch‘s Real Time Stream CrunchUp, it took the Livestream team 10 days to develop TwitCam. Pretty amazing I think you’ll [...]

Tuesday was one of the most difficult days for the popular micro-blogging website Twitter, after a hacker gained access to their Google cloud-based Apps platform and managed to steal over 300 confidential documents and screenshots. These sensitive documents were sent to Techcrunch, where Michael Arrington decided to release some of them to the public.
But how was this possible? [...]

Only last week did Twitter post a message on their blog apologising for accidentaly suspending accounts and now it seems it’s happening all over again.
I opened TweetDeck to see blank fields. After re-starting the app a couple of times I launched the Twitter.com webpage to see my horror, that I had been suspended.
After sending a polite support message, and venting my frustration out on Facebook, [...]
