Microsoft’s Outlook.com Garners 1 Million Users in 6 Hours Of Launch, Early Reviews Positive

“One million people have signed up for a new, modern email experience at Outlook.com. Thanks!” @Outlook tweeted. Microsoft’s new email service, Outlook.com, may become a success and provide redemption for Hotmail’s terrible reputation. The site adding 1 million users in about six hours is definitely good news for Microsoft.

While launching Outlook.com Microsoft said that it “realized that we needed to take a bold step, break from the past and build you a brand new service from the ground up.” Outlook.com is a “modern email designed for the next billion mailboxes.”

“In the Outlook.com inbox, your personal email comes alive with photos of your friends, recent status updates and tweets that your friend has shared with you, the ability to chat and video call,” the post added.

Existing Hotmail, Live and Msn users  can upgrade to Outlook.com and keep their user names.  They can also acquire a new “@outlook.com” email address if they wish. Users of other email services can also use Outlook.com to manage their emails.
