Folks, its official.

Google has formally announced Android 2.2 update named Froyo ( following Google’s alphabetized dessert naming convention, is the next one called Gateau?)  on the second day of Google Conference at the Moscone West, San Francisco.

Most of the features which Sporkings.com have written about earlier does find a place,   Android Froyo will run Flash and HTML5 platforms for native as well as web applications. Of course, this is a direct take on the Apple vs. Adobe issue that sparked over Adobe’s Flash platform for Apple’s  iPhone.  Froyo runs Flash Player 10.1 smoothly and as revealed earlier overall system performance has been boosted up to 5 times compared to the Android 2.1 Eclair.

Tethering ability also has been confirmed,  using tethering feature Android  Froyo lets you turn your phone into a Wi-fi hotspot for Wi-fi enabled devices, including  your Wi-Fi iPad.  An app or music  download to your computer doesn’t need to be tethered to the Android Froyo enabled phone, the update will automatically be installed OTA(over-the-air).

Voice recognition is added for search and for Google Translate. The new application manager will let you move apps to and run them from a SD card and allows background updating.
