iPhone Competitors – Apple Thinks They Are Just Catching Up To The First iPhone

appleThe title says it all. However, is this so? During Apple’s Q4 earnings call today, someone asked what does Apple think about its increasing competition. The answer was at least bold. “They’re still catching up with the first iPhone.” – Tim Cook, Apple’s COO. There are a lot of Android phones coming out and it looks like Apple has a very clear stance. They think the new smartphones are behind their first iPhone, released two years ago. Of course, we agree that there are some smartphones that still compare to that product. However, definitely not all of them!

Even thinking that Palm Pre or myTouch-3G are below the antique iPhone sounds a little hilarious. Not to mention the upcoming launch of the Motorola Droid. This launch is a very serious threat to Apple. It might be the first real challenge for Apple’s iPhone. And not the first model, but the iPhone 3GS. Verizon Wireless is strongly supporting this idea in its recent advertising campaign.

We expect to see some responses from other smartphone manufacturers. And we can even expect to see iPhone hall prey to the Motorola Droid. Who knows? Details about the launch are very well kept. Even the features of the new smartphone are just rumors.
