Microsoft: No Gays Allowed

It’s hard to believe policies like this still exist, this is the 21st Century for goodness sake. But apparently, no one told Microsoft.

A woman has been banned from the Xbox Live service for including her sexuality in her status on the social platform.

Microsoft say it is against their term of service to advertise your sexuality on your custom profiles. They insist this is not an anti-gay policy, and would apply to straight persons, if they too advertise the fact in their profiles. How odd.

We think Microsoft’s attitude is hugely old fashioned, not to mention offensive.

  • Ruk

I think that microsoft aren't really doing it for homophobic reasons, more to protect people, see apparently, the lady was getting a lot of abuse from drone parents and haters. so by microsoft trying to stop people from putting there orientation in profile I think they're trying to protect. there's a lot of idiots out there who can't handle the truth, and the gaming world is full of people who just like to abuse, they don't need anymore ammo.

  • While I feel your points are valid, I also disagree. If this is the case, Microsoft should be banning the abusers, not he victim.

If a child is bullied in the playground, we don't ban him/her from having a playtime. We confront the bullies.

We should be challenging homophobia, not covering it up.
